Princess Kate’s ‘Competitive’ Comment Goes Viral

Princess Kate’s comment referencing her “competitive side” with Prince William has gone viral after footage from a rare 2023 interview has resurfaced on social media site TikTok.

Since their marriage in 2011, William and Kate’s competitive dynamic has been regularly displayed during official visits and engagements, from baking and sailing challenges, to painting and soccer exercises.

In 2023, ahead of the Rugby World Cup, which was held in France, William and Kate sat down with royal relation Princess Anne for a rare joint interview for the popular sports podcast: The Good, The Bad and The Rugby.

William is patron of the Welsh rugby teams, Kate of England’s, and Anne of Scotland’s.

During the interview, Kate discussed a competitive moment that arose when she and William attended a field day at the school of their children, Prince George (11), Princess Charlotte (9) and Prince Louis (6).

Uploaded to TikTok by user, ctheriness, on August 15, footage of Kate’s comment has been viewed over 200,000 times, winning praise from fans.

In the extended interview, Kate raised the idea that at school field days, certain institutions had “banned” parents races because they had become “far too competitive.”

When asked if she would ever compete, the princess responded that she had already.

“Actually, we were told categorically there was no parents race,” she said. “But then they called at the last minute ‘parents race!’ and, maybe the competitive side in both of us was like, ‘We have to take part in this!'”

Kate went on to reveal that, unprepared, she took part in “bare feet,” but didn’t place as highly as William who proudly noted that he came in second place.

The viral clip from the interview has received in excess of 10,000 likes and more than 150 comments, many of which have praised Kate and her dynamic with William.
