Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s ‘inevitable’ problem as ‘great double act’ falls apart

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing an “inevitable” problem as their “great double act” falls apart, a royal commentator has claimed.

The couple have been known to undertake visits together, such as recent trips to Nigeria and Colombia, and have started business ventures together, notably their Netflix documentary and charity Archwell.

However, there has been talk of the couple “going their separate ways, professionally speaking”, says royal commentator and host of the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential.

This move to establish their separate careers outside of the Royal Family has been criticised by another expert who thinks it’s damaging to their image as “star-crossed lovers, salt and pepper pots”.

The Daily Mail’s royal editor Rebecca English suggested that the couple had “set themselves up for a fall” by undertaking separate duties and ventures as they’re known for being “a massive love story” together.

She said on an episode of the podcast: “I think the trouble is for them is they’ve set themselves up as a massive love story… the star-crossed lovers… battled the system, salt and pepper pots.

“They even bought their house it had the entwined palm trees that everyone said reminded them of them.

“And the trouble is, once you set yourself up as that kind of great double act when you start doing things separately, which is an inevitable part of marriage … most marriages you aren’t tied at the hip, then people start reading things into it.”

The royal expert suggested that the optics of solo engagements might not be doing the Sussexes any favours from a PR standpoint.

She added: “I’m not saying they’re right or they’re wrong to read into things, but people will start questioning whether that great big love story, that great big double act, is as solid as they say it is. I think they’re slightly set themselves up for a fall with this.”
