Kate Middleton’s ‘tension’ at mention of father as she ‘wants to move on’ conversation

Kate Middleton showed signs of “tension” when her family were mentioned in an interview with ITV, a body language expert has claimed.

In a Channel 5 documentary, Kate: In Her Own Words, two body language experts weighed in on Prince William and Princess Kate’s 2010 engagement interview with ITV.

Interviewer Tom Bradby asked the happy couple about the engagement and remarked that Kate evidently has a “close-knit family”. She confirmed that family was “important” to her and hoped that she and William would have a “happy family” themselves.

However, Kate showed signs of “tension”, according to body language expert Judi James, who then suggested that the topic of Kate’s family was making her “nervous”.

Judi said: “We can see there are signs of tension from Kate. Kate’s family is mentioned and this seems to make her more nervous than actually speaking about the royals.”

Tom then asked the couple what their parents said when they told them about the engagement, with William replying that he was torn between asking Kate’s father for her hand in marriage first.

He revealed that he came to the realisation that he could refuse, so he decided it would be better to ask Kate first and then her dad couldn’t “really say no”, but Judi suggests that she was then “feeling a little bit awkward”.
