Jordan Spieth to Undergo Season-Ending Surgery

Following Jordan Spieth’s underwhelming finish at FedEx St. Jude Championship, he made the announcement that he will cut his golf season short in order to undergo a necessary wrist surgery.

On many occasions during the St. Jude Championship, Spieth was able to convert birdies on TPC Southwind. Despite these occasional turn-arounds, Spieth was unable to make anything happen on the course.

He finished the tournament tied for 68th with Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland); a ranking that is far from qualifying for the BMW Championship.

Upon completion of the tournament, Spieth decided to fix this issue that has been a bother for the last 16 months. His wrist suffered an injury a week prior to the 2023 PGA Championship, and since then, he has been trying to avoid the recovery that comes with an operation.

Spieth’s inability to make the cut for the rest of the FedEx Cup gives him plenty of time to recover from an operation without the pressure of a quick return. Spieth suffers a torn sheath in his left wrist, and the recovery is slated to take about 3 months with intense physical therapy.

Despite the disappointing results for Spieth in Memphis, Tennessee, his performance still had some memorable moments that added to his professional career.

What is most often referred to as the “Jordan Spieth Experience,” fans were able to relish in the raw talent that Spieth so obviously possesses. On the final hole of the St. Jude Championship, Spieth found himself dropped in the pond twice.

For many, this would completely tank their score, but not for Mr. Trick Shot, himself.

Spieth was able to somehow find the putting green on his fifth swing, and drained a 30-foot putt on shot 6 to make a double bogey, walking it in to boot.

Regardless of his 2024 PGA season, Spieth remains a highly decorated professional, and he will come back better than ever following his recovery.

Spieth has not yet released the date of his operation but has noted that he has plenty of time, putting his patience to work.
