Prince Harry Sends ‘Deeply Personal’ Message to a ‘Very Hurt’ King Charles
Prince Harry penned a “deeply personal” letter to his father before returning to the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral, as relations “hit rock bottom” after quitting his duties, a royal expert has said. Amidst preparations to reunite with the family he left behind in 2020, the Duke of Sussex was reportedly compelled to resort to writing the letter to his father due to a “complete communication breakdown.”
The then Prince of Wales was left “very hurt” by his son’s explosive remarks during the now infamous Oprah Winfrey interview, particularly while the Duke of Edinburgh lay gravely ill. Insiders close to the Sussexes, who now reside in California with their children Archie and Lilibet, indicated that letters have become Harry’s only option to bridge the gap with his estranged father.
In these heartfelt missives, Harry is said to have detailed the motives behind his decision to step down, all the while professing to “respect the institution”. During his and Meghan’s scandalous sit-down with Oprah, Harry alleged that comments were made by a Royal about the potential skin tone of his future children and that they felt “trapped” within the Royal framework.
Such accusations have reportedly caused an uproar within the Palace, with senior Royals feeling “outraged” over the claims. A palace source disclosed: “Truth be told, Harry didn’t really know what to expect before he came home, which is why he reached out before seeing everyone.”
“He wrote a deeply personal note to his dad to try and set things straight but tensions are still running high and things haven’t exactly ironed out the way he had hoped. There had been a kind of unspoken agreement between everyone to park whatever has been on each person’s mind, and solely concentrate on supporting the Queen ahead of Prince Philip’s funeral.”, reports the Mirror.
