David Beckham Sends Message To Kobe Bryant’s Family

It wasn’t until David Beckham moved to the United States in 2012 that he got to know Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant well. This was after the British soccer superstar took his talents to America to join the L.A. Galaxy of the MLS in what was a truly landscape-shifting move.

This means that Beckham had only eight years to form a friendship with Kobe before the latter’s tragic passing in a helicopter crash in January 2020. Despite their relatively short-lived friendship, there’s no denying that the bond between these two ran deep.

On Friday, the Lakers honored Bryant with the second of three statues that the organization plans to erect to commemorate the legacy of the Hall of Fame shooting guard.

Kobe’s wife, Vanessa, was in attendance at the private unveiling ceremony of the new statue, which features Bryant with her 13-year-old daughter Gigi, who also perished in the tragic accident. After the event, Vanesa posted a photo of herself in front of the statue of her husband and daughter.

The post quickly caught Beckham’s attention. The 49-year-old co-owner of the Lionel Messi-led Miami CF team sent a simple message to Vanessa.

“So beautiful 🤍💛💜” he wrote.

Beckham kept it short and sweet, but I’m sure his unwavering love and support for Vanessa and the kids are much appreciated.

Even Kobe up there has to be smiling after this outpouring of support from his dearest friends and family.
